Adults only

Stress and anxiety are increasing in adults in the U.S., “affecting 40 million adults over the age of 18” (aada.org). Impacting physical well-being, mental well-being and day-to-day functioning, stress and anxiety negatively affects our quality of life. The good news is that stress and anxiety are treatable, with the practice of yoga. Dayna Pinkerton, a yoga therapist and a mental health counselor, is here to help you tackle stress and anxiety, through the use of yoga therapy.

Yoga therapy expands beyond the practice of physical asana practice and deepens awareness through individually tailored and dynamic sequences.

This workshop will serve as an introduction to yoga therapy and the specific application to anxiety and stress. The similarities and differences between a yoga group class and a yoga therapy group will be explained.

Participants will:

  • Learn about various forms of anxiety

  • Discuss the differences between stress and anxiety

  • Learn about models from yoga therapy to address anxiety and stress

  • Experience short practices

  • Self-assess levels of personal anxiety and stress

  • Learn how the upcoming 6-week series Yoga Therapy for Anxiety and Stress (beginning February 3rd) will support the reduction of symptoms through knowledge, practice, inquiry, empowerment, and community.

Yoga Therapy offers holistic and individually tailored programs to address specific concerns. This series will focus on practices to support the reduction of anxiety and stress.

Each week will consist of an educational component, practice, inquiry, and dialogue. Practices include posture, movement, breath, meditation, intention, somatic awareness, and reflection. Additional learning and practices will be drawn from the 8 limbs of yoga (philosophy and practice), the panchamaya koshas (layers of human experience), the klesas (psychological obstacles) and nervous system regulation.

Participants are encouraged to attend all 6 sessions. Your commitment to the series promotes personal accountability, as well as collective change for the whole group. Likewise, reasonable home practice components support habit changes and integration of new skills and are also encouraged. Ongoing group support throughout the series will be available via Google classroom.

If you register by 1/18/2025, please use code YTAnxietyEB to take the course for $210.

Dayna was the first teacher that seemed to really understand my practice.  I liked the slower pace of the class that allowed for focus on position and alignments within the pose. I also liked how she always asked us what we wanted from the class before we started and how she would slowly incorporate new poses into the practice. Practice always seemed to be the perfect amount of challenge. Eric

Practicing yoga under Dayna's leadership is a truly transformative experience. Dayna's intuition is matched only by her technical expertise.
